Snow Culture

Snow in Britain. Well it rarely ever happens and when it does people go crazy! If you take a step back from all the preparation, worrying and excitement and think of this situation from an outsiders point of view (an alien or perhaps even a person from any other culture!) it is all very odd.
Take for example, I was passing by Sainsbury's about an hour ago. On your usual Thursday night at approximately 7 o'clock the shop is dead. There might be some random person buying bananas not queues half way up the road to get in! Why is this? Well, people are so petrified of being stranded in their homes without food, power, transport or any other method of contact with the outside world, so they have to stock up.
The Transport System just grinds to a halt, it is impossible to get anywhere unless you are brave enough to venture out in the bleak, blizzard like conditions. When in reality there is a little bit of snow on the ground but there are grave warnings "DO NOT GO OUT!".  In other countries where it snows, everything works totally fine, there are people shovelling their streets, big truckers clearing the road they seem to cope fine, just getting on with it really. However, I do acknowledge that there are some people that snow can be a real issue especially those living in rural areas and the vulnerable  But the rest of us, either get on with it the best you can or simply take their advice, don't go out and make a snowman! (or person, I don't want to discriminate)
I hope that if anyone does get snowed in, they won't run out of food or be completely separated from the outside world.
But imagine if it didn't snow tomorrow...

Teenage Drinking Culture

Yesterday during my sociology class we started a new topic, Research Methods. I originally thought "this is going to be the most boring topic ever", but then I found out we would be able to conduct our own research, I have decided to my research on teenage drinking culture.
This is for me, being a teenager, is quite important because I really want to find out about other people's views on the issue. I personally think that teenagers are painted in a bad light when it comes to alcohol. Yes I understand that there is a small section of "teenage society" who abuse alcohol and get into serious trouble with the police, and can cause damage to themselves and others. But is that really all teenagers?
There are some teenagers that know when to stop and when it isn't fun anymore. I know plenty of people that can have a good time either without alcohol or just a little bit and it isn't a problem.
I don't see why all teenagers should be seen as the same, there are some people who are very respectable members of society who do drink alcohol but are sensible.
I hope with my studies I will find out what people really think!
Please can you fill out and my questionnaire, it would really help.
